Depending on how you use the website, CarDrop may collect information you provide directly and limited technical information generated through your use of the site.

Information you provide may include your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code, preferred appraisal location, company name or role, and other contact or scheduling details.

Technical information may include browser or device information, IP address, website activity, referral information, cookies or similar technologies used for security, performance and analytics.

Appraisal and vehicle information

When you submit a standard appraisal, Mobile Appraisal, Fleet request or CarDrop Gold request, we may collect vehicle-related information such as VIN, year, make, model, trim, mileage, condition, ownership or payoff status, accident or repair information, warning lights, modifications, service context, location and other details you choose to provide.

Fleet submissions may also include vehicle counts, business information, vehicle lists and representative-unit details. CarDrop Gold submissions may include specification, service, condition and ownership details relevant to specialty vehicles.

Some vehicle information may be supplemented by third-party VIN or vehicle-data services. Those services may be incomplete, so the information displayed through an automated lookup should be reviewed by the seller.

How we use information

CarDrop may use submitted information to review and respond to appraisal requests, identify vehicles, communicate with customers, coordinate in-store or mobile appraisal arrangements, evaluate ownership or payoff questions, administer Fleet and Gold requests, and support a possible vehicle transaction.

We may also use information to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website and forms; prevent spam or misuse; maintain business records; comply with legal obligations; and protect CarDrop, our customers and our services.

Email and phone communications

If you provide an email address or phone number with an appraisal or service request, CarDrop may use that information to confirm receipt, discuss the vehicle, arrange next steps, answer questions and communicate about the appraisal or related vehicle-sale process.

Customer confirmation emails acknowledge that information was received. They are not vehicle offers, appointment confirmations or purchase agreements.

SMS messaging and mobile information

CarDrop may offer optional transactional text messages related to an appraisal, CarDrop Gold request, Fleet request or Mobile Appraisal request. You receive these messages only when you actively opt in through the applicable form or another documented consent method.

CarDrop may use service providers acting on our behalf to deliver or support text messaging. Those providers process information only as needed to provide services to CarDrop and not for their own marketing.

Message frequency varies based on your appraisal or sale request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of the applicable messaging program and HELP for assistance. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of receiving an appraisal, selling a vehicle or completing a transaction with CarDrop.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Additional SMS terms are available in our Terms of Service.

Cookies, analytics and website technologies

The website may use cookies, tags, analytics or similar technologies to understand site usage, improve performance, support security, remember limited preferences and measure how visitors interact with pages or forms.

Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. Some website features may function differently if cookies or similar technologies are disabled.

Photos and uploaded content

Some appraisal forms allow vehicle photos or other vehicle-related information to be uploaded. CarDrop uses those materials to review the vehicle, understand its condition, communicate with you and maintain records related to the appraisal or transaction.

Please avoid uploading unnecessary sensitive documents or personal information. Unless CarDrop specifically requests a document through an appropriate method, do not upload driver's licenses, Social Security numbers, financial-account credentials or other highly sensitive information through a general vehicle-photo field.

How information may be shared

CarDrop may share information with vendors or service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, email delivery, messaging, analytics, security, mapping, spam prevention or vehicle-information services. These providers receive only the information reasonably needed to perform their services for CarDrop.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or misuse, or support a business transaction such as a merger, financing, acquisition or sale of assets.

SMS-specific limitation: mobile numbers, SMS opt-in information and messaging consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Third-party services and links

The website may use or link to third-party services, including mapping services, vehicle-information resources, communication providers, lenders, lessors or other external services. Those third parties may have their own privacy policies and information practices.

CarDrop is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services that it does not control.

Information retention and security

CarDrop may retain appraisal, contact, vehicle and communication information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to requests, maintain business and transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations and support legitimate business operations.

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No website, email system, mobile network or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may choose not to opt into SMS messaging and may still submit an appraisal request. If you have opted into transactional texts, you can reply STOP to opt out.

You may contact CarDrop to ask questions about information associated with your request, request a correction, or make another privacy-related request. Certain information may need to be retained when required for legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention, transaction-record or other legitimate business purposes.

Children's privacy

CarDrop's vehicle-buying and appraisal services are intended for adults and authorized vehicle sellers. The website is not directed to children under 13, and CarDrop does not knowingly use the website to solicit personal information from children under 13.
