Can I sell my car if I still owe money on it?
Yes. CarDrop pays your lender directly as part of the sale. You don’t need to pay off the loan first or have the title in hand.
What happens if I owe more than the car is worth?
You can still sell. That gap is called negative equity. You pay the difference between your offer and your payoff the same day by cash, cashier’s check or money order. Your CarDrop buyer shows you the exact amount before you sign.
How long does the lender payoff take?
CarDrop sends the payoff as part of the sale. Your lender then closes the loan and releases the title to us; the timing on their side varies by lender. You don’t need to wait for that to be paid your equity.
Do I need a payoff letter?
It helps, but it isn’t required. With your permission we confirm the exact payoff amount with your lender during the appraisal.
Will selling my financed car hurt my credit?
Selling the car pays the loan off in full. Keep making any payment that comes due until your lender confirms the loan is paid.
Can I sell a financed car that isn’t in my name only?
Yes. Everyone listed on the loan and title needs to sign, so bring the co-owner along or ask us how to handle it before your visit.
